How CO Guardian Works
AMBIENT CARBON MONOXIDE GAS IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT PASSES THROUGH
THE SIDE VENTS, THE INTERNAL SENSORS DIRECT THE GAS AND A MICROPROCESSOR
COMPENSATES FOR THE TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY.
IF THE CO LEVELS MEASURE ABOVE 50 PPM, THE ALARM WILL SOUND, THE LED
WILL FLASH AND THE READOUT WILL DISPLAY THE CURRENT CO LEVEL.

DURING AN ALARM CYCLE, THE TEST / RESET BUTTON CHECKS THE INTEGRITY
OF THE SYSTEM AND IF CO IS STILL PRESENT, THE ALARM WILL REPEAT.

One of the easiest ways to test your Carbon Monoxide Detector is to blow some cigarette
smoke on it. Carbon Monoxide is one of the gases mixed in the smoke of cigarettes. As you
will see on the video shown below, we connected an AERO
452-201-011 to an AERO
55-101-003 display unit with some smoke from a regular cigarette. On the display you will
see the CO reading displayed in PPM (Parts Per Million). In seconds you will see the amber
light come off indicating the presence of CO. After the cigarette is put away, the amber
light turns off indicating no presence of CO.

Another way to test you CO Detector unit while in the airplane is to open a window or a
door when you are taxiing behind another airplane and let the CO come into the cabin.
